I called the Officials Choice today to order a few items, and the guy there told me about the new shirt, grey with black pinstripes. I'm from Canada, where we wear a solid grey v-neck shirt with black trim, and I was wondering if the stripes are really going to be replaced by this grey shirt. How many associations have swiched from the black and white shirt to the grey one, and will it replace the stripes any time soon?

Some of the smaller D1 conferences have used the gray shirt but it's not very widespread.

All of the women's college conferences I work are going to the grey this year (D-2 and down).

But why is everyone going to the grey shirts, personally, i think they don't look good, and if they are purchased from different suppliers, the colouring is different. In my board, there are 3 different shades of grey shirts floating around. Imagine if each person on a 3-person crew had a different colour shirt on. I don't know why anyone would want to stray from the stripes.

Because they are ugly? And make us a great target? And make us look even fatter than we already are? Other than that...

How long will it be before basketball becomes like soccer and we have 4 different colors of shirts to wear?

Since when do vertical stripes make you look fatter? Imagine if the shirts had horizontal stripes!!!! YIKES!!!

In AZ, we have had the option of wearing the grey shirts for several years. They are required for state playoff games.

They are much lighter and cooler than the polyester stripes.

Juulie - if you think the stripes "accentuate" your physique, let me tell you, the grey shirts are worse!

I've heard that. Even lighter than the mesh shirts?

That has everything to do with the material, and nothing to do with the design. You can get "cool" stripes and "hot" grey.

Wink

I'm still trying to get my HS association to say pleated pants are ok. We are stuck with the western style pants and they totally suck. By Western style, I'm not reffering to chaps Chuck !

Lightbulb FWIW, I am past ready.

I'm ready to change colors.
Doing baseball games the plate Ump gets to choose the color for the game. We have Navy, Powder Blue (eg. girly color sans black feet), Cream, Black, some still use the discontinued Red.
I like change. My partner and I were the first in our area to wear the V-neck. Now, I am ready for state approval for a new shirt.
I do not own pleated pants for any sport, however. I find that to be an uncomfotable mental hurdle to clear.
