OT - Campus Cinderella

Was watching Turner Classic and they had a "short" from 1938 called Campus Cinderella about a college basketball star player. It showed a portion of a game in which his team was playing their rival. The court looked smaller than a MS court and had huge wooden backboards painted white. The teams were wearing fairly standard looking uniforms except they had belts, did not show the school name or team name and had numbers on the backs only, although they all looked like "legal" numbers. Most of the shots they took were one-hand underhand, including the winning half court shot made by the "star" at the buzzer, er, I mean the gun (not kidding).

Oh yeah, the ball had laces on it and the referees (two of them) were dressed in what looked like football referee outfits - shirts that buttoned all the way down the front and had striped collars, white pants with black belts that "gathered" just below the knee, long black socks and black shoes that came up over the ankles plus white "baseball" caps.

What was really strange was that they had a jump ball after every violation!

So, MTD Sr., was that the way it really was?

Certainly gives a new meaning to the "stop sign". A whistle, and a technical foul, are nothing compared to a chance of getting shot in the face.
