The Athletic Director has resigned. The President upon seeing the video for the first time three days ago said he thought Rice had to be fired immediately. Interesting thought I heard on espn, they said that when the AD first saw the video that it wasn't edited up all the bad things we see weren't one after the other, all we see on the video is the bad acts piled on top of each other is all we see.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the president resign as well. The AD is more or less blaming legal counsel on the way out. Who cares if the tape was edited to show only the relevant parts? Chances are that a lot of bad stuff never appeared on video.

The Rutgers University General Counsel has also resigned. This was the guy who told Pernetti that they couldn't fire Rice because he hadn't violated school policies.

President said he was told they didn't have "cause," so he just fired him without it. I'm guessing that means his contract will be paid out as written

I guess firing basketballs at players isn't against school policy. Probably the 'at will' versus 'under contract' which meant hearings and a procedure that needed following. But, assault (firing the basketballs) and battery (connecting with the fired basketballs) wasn't plain enough for the counsel to understand.
