The most satisfying part of the day? Falling into bed this afternoon :)

I feel 'ya!! I also work the night shift. So I know the feeling of working games either before or after your shift. IMO after is the toughest so that puts you into my hall of heroes.

PS - take the next night off with pay!! :)

Great stuff. Thanks for the write-up. Video showed a very well played game (and only a few whistles)!

Thanks. If I remember correctly there were about 35 fouls for the game. We had the "foul count out of whack" discussion when Jefferson was shooting the bonus early in both halves but no one complained (even when it was 7-0 in their favor in the 2nd half). We talked about it and said that's just the way the game was going since Jefferson was trying to go to the hoop and Lincoln was shooting jumpers.

JMF,

Nice job doing us OF members proud!

Congrats.

An explanation for many games where the foul count is lopsided......

Agree. In fact you beat me to make the same post. I was busy over on another thread defending my right to wear black belted pants.

The female officials from the girls' game were on the other side doing a post mortem when their assignor comes in, the woman who also assigns me for GV...who, after giving me a pretty good and full schedule, gave me one playoff game this season. Awkward for her, maybe. Not so much for you I'm guessing! :D

Congrats!! I like how, upon getting the call, you immediately said "I'll be there" then hang up and figure out how:) Nice of the girlfriend to help out, they are more apt then the wife:eek:

Just read this. Kudos, JMF!

("Railsplitters"? Can't say I've heard that before.)

That is fantastic. Nothing like when opportunity meets preparation. Congrats on the great game!

Thanks again from all of you. I'm still trying to believe all of this happened.

It's funny but in some ways I guess it was supposed to happen this way. Normally when I get on the bus to work I put my cell on silent since I'm not supposed to use it during the ride. Friday night it was on vibrate...which meant I heard/felt the call from my son as I was getting on the bus. If I'd made it all the way into NYC then checked my phone there's no way I could've done the game. Other factoids:

*As nice as the locker area is at MSG, high school officials don't get food. Tons of water and Gatorade - and very hot showers - but no eats :)
*We had no alternate. The guy scheduled to be the alt had to work Saturday. I kept joking with the timer & shot-clock operator (both officials whom I know) that they were one pulled hamstring from being out there.
*At halftime, one of my partners says, "Hey, did you see at courtside that guy...Malik Sealy...busting on us on TV!" My other partner and I looked at each other and he says, very slowly, "Umm...Malik Sealy is dead. Do you mean John Salley?" Yeah, thankfuly, it was John Salley.

MSG is the bomb. Saw a Knicks game several years back. Congrats.
