Yes. Everyone has to be a local board member to work in this state. There are no restrictions on membership though. Pay your dues...and you're in.

I thought you might have meant a leadership board or board of directors.

As did I. I use the word "association" in this forum to fit in, but it's really a board. For ours, you take classes, pass a written test, pass a floor test, and you're in. Written rules/mechanics tests are annual; there are no floor or physical tests.

Terp, it sounds like yours is a lot more exclusive. Congrats!

Sounds like his is the Board (of Directors) for the local board or association.

We call it the Executive Board. President, Vice President, Secretary, Interpreter, Past President and 4 At Large members. I am one of the 4 At Large.

I just got assigned to head a committee on referee evaluations.
