Technical after regulation

Watched a section championship tonight, and need clarification on what could have happened. End of regulation, Team A is by 3, and A1 runs to to Team B's bench and begins taunting them. Even if a T was called, it wouldn't change the outcome, so why bother?

If team A was up by 2, then call it and the shots will be taken to determine if OT is played?

Finally, if Team A was up by 1, then shots would be taken and if both are made, then Team B wins?

By not calling the T, you allow that behavior to continue. Just follow the rule: issue the T and don't shoot the FTs.

Correct.

Yes.

This was an unfortunate display of poor behavior which marred an otherwise tremendous contest. #1 certainly could have been whacked and it would not have resulted in any FTs. The Section Office could handle the penalty and still may elect to take disciplinary action. Without being able to hear what was said, I can't give an opinion on whether a flagrant T would have been appropriate or not.

To be clear the officials were moving off the court on that end of the floor, but had not yet departed when this action caught their attention. One of them stepped between the two opposing players and got the winning team's player to move away, then some administrative people stepped in and the officials left.
There was also some unfortunate verbal follow-up between this player and the head coach of the losing team during the postgame handshake.

You are correct about what happens when the lead is 2pts or 1pt.

Is there a maximum of one T? Lets say after A1 is called for a technical, A2 comes over and says F U ref, now what? Now could there be 4 shots? And yes I know, RUN OFF THE COURT, but what if.....

No maximum. Call both, report both, and award 4 FTs. In this case, as soon as B misses 2 of the 4 shots, they can no longer win, the game is over and no other shots are taken.

Issue a flagrant T. Make sure it is recorded in book. Leave the floor and report it to sanctioning body (State?). Let them deal with offender. Winning a game by 4 or more points isn't a green light to act like a jack a$$.

In our state, ANY flagrants are usually met with a suspension, fine, or both which can be carried over to the next season. If offender is a senior...maybe his school or coach is suspended or fined.

Same thing here. The player would be ejected and suspended for the next two games, should his team continue to advance.

Don't ignore stupidity just because the penalty might not affect the outcome.
