![]() I take pride in my rules knowledge when I call a game. Obviously that comment should not have been made, but the official should ignore it. We ignore parents/fans no problem. Why should an ignorant broadcaster be any different? And announcing isn't easy, either. It's the same as officiating in that it takes lots of reps to get good at. |

The comment from the announcer was "a cheap foul."
There was an announcer in our area who was once broadcasting a game his son was playing in. He was seated at the scorer's table, and at one point stood up, put his hand over his mic, and yelled something at the officials. One of the officials went over to the table and let him know that one more reaction like that from where he was seated would result in his mic being disconnected and he would be dismissed from the gym. The official also reminded him that if that occurred, he wouldn't even be able to hear the rest of the game on the radio.

That said, the official should not have even acknowledged his presence unless there is table interference occurring.
