I'm coming to realize a fine line here.....as an "employee" of the event, you don't want to burn any bridges that would affect future employment with that district. What do you think about this "line"? Ben |

Ask the AD, or head coach. Normally, there are league rules that establish the time of the quarters.... it is not an optional decision.

In Oregon, all HS games are 8 minute quarters.... Varsity, JV, JV2, Freshman-A, Freshmen-B, etc. Varsity pays one rate, the rest pay at a lower rate. The pay difference is more for the ability of the officials that typically work each level and the importance of the games. Some MS games are 8 minutes, some are 7 minutes. The pay sometimes depends on the length but it isn't universal. |

I've always been of the opinion that the varsity officials should be paid appreciably more than the subvarsity officials. If those officials want to be paid more, they should do what it takes to become varsity officials. |

"Thanks, but we should stick with what the conference has set! We should have kept it at 7 minutes. Thanks for the e-mail. I will take care of this if it happens again." I guess we put in 4 minutes of overtime, without an overtime. Insert lame joke smirk. Ben |
