Michigan/Indiana: Blocking Foul (Valentine call in 2nd half)
I figured it would just be easier to start a new thread. Here's the play:

Thanks for posting.
But just curious if you're purposely disallowing full screen access? |
It looks correct.

I was watching the game and really liked the call. And still do on replay.
|
Put me down for a block.

I liked the block call in real time. On the replay I like it a lot less. The significant contact was the dribbler's extended arm into the defender. After benefit of multiple views of the slo-mo, I still think block is the right call. The defender was moving toward the offensive player at the time of the contact. If he wasn't doing that, the contact would not have happened.

Arm contact does not take away why the contact took place in the first place. At least that is my opinion.
Peace |
Can't see that the defender ever established legal guarding position. I like the call.
|
Block...defender moving forwards.
|
Block as well.
|
Seems like a good call to me, defender is moving forward.
|
Block.
|
No LGP and defender moving forward. Great call in real time.
|
I also have a block.

I agree that OSU-1 was moving toward UM-1 at the moment of contact and pushed UM-1 thereby committing a Common Foul. It is my opinion that the CF by OSU-1 more pushing than blocking because his initial illegal contact was with his right forearm against the UM-1's left arm. Had UM-1's left arm had made contact with OSU-1's torso and that was the only contact between the two players then I would have had a PCF by UM-1.
It was a tough loss to take for this Buckeye fan coming on the heels of Kansas's home loss on Saturday to Oklahoma State. It was a good game by both teams and UM deserved to win the OT period because they didn't allow OSU to take advantage of its defensive stops on its offensive end of the court. But UM has got to get rid for those shoes. :p MTD, Sr. |
