We are told to keep any extra whistles at bay. So no whistle here.

To blow or not to blow.

I choose not to blow as the horn/LED ends the quarter, half or game.

Just goes to show all of this is local. I'd feel like something was missing without a whistle at the end of a period. Or a whistle to bring in subs.

Or personal. I do this and really do not care what other do or don't do. Not everything we do here is dictated by someone. If I have the last second shot, I have a whistle either way.

Peace

Friends, Romans, Countrymen....

Around here every "R" seems to be from a different Rome....

I quit blowing except when the horn was "quiet" and just take the "corrections" for what they're worth.

Whistle to end regardless. I work with people who don't and it seems odd to end without the whistle, especially when the shot is close to the horn. When it's not close, still seems weird, but I have no issues with it. I will blow it regardless of situation though, just like subs.:)

We only whistle if there's a shot in the air at the buzzer. In such a case, the period isn't over until it's apparent that the shot is good or no good or the airborne shooter returns to the floor. That's why we have a whistle.

Otherwise, no.

Not if a shot or airborne shooter is in the air, it doesn't. :)

Around here it's taught to NEVER blow the whistle to end the period or to bring in subs unless there's an extenuating circumstance (horn non-functional, partner about to put ball in play, etc).
