Futility, Thy Name is N. Illinois

For those of us who have had/discussed LOW scoring games.......

1/26/13 - N. Illinois held to 4 points in 1st half

Northern Illinois broke its own NCAA Division I record for futility Saturday by scoring just four points in the first half at Eastern Michigan.

The Huskies trailed 18-4 at the half after shooting 1 for 31 before halftime, including 29 straight misses.

Earlier this season, Northern Illinois set the record for fewest points in a first half in the shot clock era with 5 against Dayton on Dec. 1.

The Huskies' 3.2 percent field goal percentage in the first half also set a record, breaking Savannah State's 4.3 percent against Kansas State on Jan. 7, 2008.

The lone made field goal also tied a Division I record set by Savannah State in that game

What was the final score, gruney?

I had a BV game a few weeks ago, 83-20 final. Thought it would never end.

They lit it up in the 2nd half going 7 for 30.

0-33 from 3pt range...is there a point in the game where you say maybe we should pound inside a little bit?

I attended NIU. Maybe if they brought me in to ref a game they might do better. Of course, I would be totally unbiased.

Well at least they scored more than the football team did in the Orange Bowl. That seemed in question in the first half.

Peace
