Ever ask a coach to remove a player?
Had a "bad element" in a good game last night. When he came in he brought crap into the game.
Ever consider asking a coach to keep a player on the bench? |
No. If he's truly a bad element, it'll take care of itself if you pay attention.
|
No, but I have seen those guys get in foul trouble pretty quick.
|
No. If coach isn't aware enough to take him out of the game, you have tools to do so yourself if need be.
|
No, not directly. At the youth level I have at times spoken to coach quietly if a player's behavior is becoming an issue. The smart coaches know that's an opportunity to address it/sub for the player before I take care of business.
Most of them take the opportunity. |
Yes...after I get to 5 fouls.

No. Deal with it within the confines of the rules.

What about when player is violating uniform rules repeatedly? I have told coach, "need a sub until he can keep his shirt tucked in and shorts pulled up"

I have never asked a coach to remove a player, but I have asked players to remove a coach. Usually, the response from the players is, "Wish we could".

It's served me well. |
I did something last week along these lines, that i had never done before.
In the 4th quarter of a highly anticipated rivalry game, that had turned into a 20+ point blowout, out of frustration a kid from the losing team committed a very hard foul, which bordered on being flagrant. I immediately signalled intentional, and went by the bench as I was going to report. Fortunately, the coach was already sending a sub to the table, but I told the coach that either he could keep this player on the bench the rest of the night voluntarily, or I would see that he didn't come back in, and if I had to do that he was going to lose him for the next two games as well. The coach told me he was done for the night, and maybe the next two anyway! |
