Mostly uncontested layups. Read the Deadspin article for details.

But apparently most of those were gimmie layups. At least he has a story for his grandkids! (evenutually)

Would it have been more heroic if he had waited for defenders to come over and guard him?

Nccaa

I attended a Christian NAIA Division 1 school in CA, but our men's coach considered it embarrassing to attend the N"C"CAA tournament, and would not let the team go.

Realistically, I don't think that schools who are strictly NCCAA do any recruiting, or have scholarships. It is usually just 100 or 200 students and word of mouth to form a team. I only saw one of these teams while in college.

While our squad was crushing this local NCCAA school (this school was focused on Latin American missionaries, no joke) I remember thinking I could have started for the opposition. I got to do the play by play for our radio program, so I saw every game and knew the talent level that most of our opponents had. You could immediately recognize the athleticism of a guy who had bounced back from D1, and all our of guys looked like former D1(or pro) players compared to guys on an NCCAA school.

Grinnell's coach had this game circled on the calendar as Deadspin said. He knew they were going to completely clown them.

Did you read the article posted by Bainsey? The game sounds like a bit of a farce. From the article:

Literally 75% of [Faith Baptist's] points were full court heaves to get it over Grinnell's press, then a wide open layup on the other end. Oh, and David Larsen's "impressive" 70-point effort? Hardly. They were 90% wide open layups. He maybe took a handful of jump shots.

Sounds bizarre.

On the national nightly news tonight, Coach David Arseneault said he wasn't out to embarrass the other team......... Really? The final score was 179-104?

Why do I picture the announcer wearing a plaid sport coat, a dented derby, and chomping on a cigar stub?

NCCAA has two divisions. NCCAA-I does allow the option for athletic aid (although some NCCAA D2-eligible schools can opt up to D1) and NCCAA-II does not allow athletic aid, if I remember correctly.

I used to be involved with another small college association whose members often played NCCAA schools. One of our past members became infamous for giving up 201 points a few years ago.

Kobe ways in......

Kobe impressed with Taylor's 138-point night

"Would people be celebrating me if I scored 138 points? You know how it is, some people would, some people wouldn't," Bryant said. "They can all kiss my (expletive) as I'm sure (Taylor) feels the same way.

"If you score 138 points, you kind of have a license to tell people to (expletive) off."

Ah Kobe, always setting the example.

I thought of Kobe last night as we drove through Eagle, Colorado.
