no rim

Team A is at the freethrow line. Player A fails to hit the rim. Referee calls no rim and awards the ball to Team B to be taken out of bounds. Can team B run the baseline?*

What situations allow B to run the end line on the throw in?

Do any of them apply?

Rule 7-5-7 will answer your question.

I Bet That Mark T. DeNucci, Sr. Remembers ...

Warning: Slightly off topic.

Anybody remember when the offensive team violated on a free throw, that went in the basket, that was not to be followed by another free throw? The throw in would be administered on the sideline, free throw line extended, to show the scorekeeper that the free throw that went in the basket didn't count. Man, those were certainly the good ole days.

No metal nails back then. Wooden pegs.

Yes.
That was back when there were real jump balls, the 28 foot line really meant something, and players had to raise a hand to indicate s/he committed the foul.
Neither peach baskets, Facebook, TV remotes, or microwave ovens either.

Wouldn't it make more sense to stay focused on the OP since he hasn't answered it yet?

I have to ask, and it seems impossible when i think it through, but were score keepers dumber back in the day? Or maybe more distracted.

Violation for Team A being at the FT line. Only one player is allowed in the FT semi-circle during a FT.
