I am a rookie. I am going to take the referee's test tomorrow in the state of Indiana. I did not find this web site until today. I have a few questions. Can anyone help? Are the tests for referee's the same in all states in the US? If so, will I be taking test 1 or 2 tomorrow? I printed the test given in this forum, and am studing it now. I have read, and re-read the rules book, yet want to do well tomorrow. Any suggestions? ------------------ Mike |

From State to state, the way the test and which test is administered a little differently. Sometimes from area to area. Almost always, the rookie test is closed book. A few suggestions. Relax. Take your time. Read the questions. Do not read into the question. Make sure you see words like simultanious, team, personal or anything else from rule 4. The test usually has maybe 5 to 10 questions over anything that is new in the rule book. Make sure you know these items well. There is always a rule 2.10 question. If I memorize anything, it is this rule.
I took the test the second time on 24 hour notice and passed. How? I retook one old test, then I read rule 2.10 and rule 4. |

Mike,
Tim gives some good tips above. Be careful when reading questions. They will often throw in an "or", an "and" or a "not" to a rule that is otherwise taken verbatim from the book. As Tim said, don't try and read more into the question than is there, and know Rule 4, Definitions. Rule 4 is the rule you keep your thumb in as you read the rest of the book. You always end up coming back there for reference. Good luck... dk |

Thanks for the encouragement. I took the test on Monday and feel like I did a good job. I will know in 3 weeks. There were 15 people taking the test in Southern Indiana on Monday. Less people than I thought would be there. Thanks again for your help. Mike.
