Worst Fragrant Call Ever

Derek Fisher called for getting run over by the Lebron Train. Foul yes. Flagrant? YGTBSM.

Agreed.

I usually like Monty a lot, but it appeared he initiated the conference, only to come up with a seemingly confusing ruling.

I know it's a typo, but I like the idea of a fragrant foul !!! I've had enough games that stink !!!

The only thing I saw that would support a flagrant is that he didn't just get run into but he chucked him with his arms....adding unnecessary contact.

That's exactly what they called the flagrant for...plus they probably erred on the side of upgrading to a flagrant foul because they didn't want the Thunder, who were getting drummed at that point, to start taking out their frustrations on the opposing team and wanted to nip that in the bud.

But the contact in of itself wasn't a flagrant foul IMO.

I believe it was just a bad call. And Fisher didn't even make contact with Lebron when he threw his arms out.

I actually agree with Van Gundy on this, they should be able to go to the monitor to decide whether to upgrade to a flagrant. That was a bad call. It was damn near a charge since Fischer slid over and he ends up getting trucked over AND given a flagrant!! dang.

Definitely looked like a bad call to me. But, these guys are the best and they're allowed to miss one now and then, too.

On one hand, I see what JVG is talking about here and on some levels, I agree they should amend the rule now to be able to review flagrant foul penalty one's. On the other hand, the NBA wants to balance that with not holding up play for what is feels it officials should be able to tell (foul vs. FF1). FF2's...sure, review those since an ejection is on the line...but I'm sure the NBA is also cognizant of not wanting to hold up play. They don't want replay to turn into what is has at the college level.

Looked like a PC foul to me. Fisher clearly had position and James initiated the contact...even lowered his shoulder a little and hit him square in the chest.

I'd agree if Fisher wasn't coming forward and chucking his arms at James as if he were throwing a football block. If he had merely held his ground, he very well may have drawn the charge.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but do you honestly think that you could stand there and merely hold your ground with a guy as big as James sprinting at you like that???

No, you have to fade back or put your arms out to absorb the impact, not chuck him with your arms.

He never actually chucked him b/c the collision caused to go backwards.

Huh??? He many not have chucked him through full arm extension but he was definitely chucking himself into James at the time of contact. It was not major, and probably shouldn't have been flagrant, but it is what he did.
