In my observations, the kids emulate their parents. When you have a howling coach and a bunch of parents, the kids are usually the same. Nothing worse that a very young kid acting like a freakin' NBA star.
I agree with you except that there are a few times when there is a kid with a lousy attitude, probably with parents with lousy attitudes, but a coach who's trying to work on it. I've seen a few of these coaches who are really remarkable, and they get my highest respect. These are also the coaches that when they say something negative about me or another ref, I listen, because i think they see the bigger picture.

Next year, I fully intend to put Dan, Tony and Mark on 3-person on at least one of her games.
:(

I call clock! Chuck, you can have the book if you want . . .

(As good of a view, and you get to sit!)

Wow!! All-star cast!! Who's going to play the come-from-behind, sincere and all-wise opposing coach?

First, we need Dave as the P.A. announcer. Then - I suggest John Wooden as the visiting coach. They don't get much wiser than that.

After that great experience I would take notes on the coach as a reminder and set future warning reservations mentally till the next meeting on the court and convey them in detail to the coach prior to the game and cut the coach no slack. You'll find that the coach will take a different approach and will start to respect the strips...

Why would you take your clothes off for a coach that doesn't like you...

It would be a cold day in Hell before this coach would listen patiently to a referee telling her what she needs to clean up.

Besides, it's not my job to train coaches before games, only during games.

I agree with this completely. I don't think any coach would stand there and let you recite their faults. Nor should they. That's not the official's job. The official's job is to enforce the rules during the game, and report the coach's actions if necessary.

Ring her up, toss her out, and start fresh next time out.

Chuck

All-wise coach? This must be a work of fiction . . .

All-wise coach???

How about a wise @$$ coach - I would volunteer for that duty :D

Are you covering travel expenses? I would take a free trip to the NW any day you name. Add in the free comic entertainment, and I am ready to go.
