Travel or "looks bad" video
Why or Why not was this a good call??

Let's Look At It From Another Angle ...

Watch his left foot...

Almost a good jump-stop
At first, I thought this must be a bad call, that it was a classic jump-stop, NF 4-44-2 a 3, (control in the air, come down on one foot, followed by landing on both feet simultaneously.)
Then, having watched the video a few more times, I noticed that it appears that he dragged the tip of his right foot, between the landing on the left and the subsequent landing on both. That would justify the travel call, NF 4-44-2 a 2. If that's what the Lead saw, it was a correct call, IMO. |
The official isn't going to call a travel just because it "looks bad". I had a game a few years ago in which coach A kept saying I should "call something" on B1 who was the other team's point guard because when he dribbled, his dribble "looked ugly". I told coach A that if "looking ugly" was against the rules, he wouldn't be allowed in the gym.
We were friends and he just laughed. |

I can't tell either way if the call is correct or not due to the quality of the clip. |
I would not have a travel on what I saw.

You cannot see what he does with the pivot foot from the angle of the camera. The official of course has a different angle. Who knows if he actually got it right or not.

Legal play. Left foot is the pivot foot, jumped from it to simultaneouly both feet landing.

So, of course, there's no pivot foot on a jump stop, but prior to the jump, what's a succinct and correct way of saying "the left was the pivot foot" (or is this about tense..."was" as opposed to "is")? |

APG, if the "player gathered the ball/ended his dribble with his left foot on the floor," wouldn't that left foot be the pivot foot (until the jump stop, of course)? |
