Travel (Pivot foot) or nothing?

Is this a travel?

Peace

I've got nothing...real time or in slow motion.

No travel.

Your points in the other thread fit this video perfectly (but the events in this video are far from the other video).

At the time he first makes contact with the ball, the toes of his left foot are already coming up off the floor. Acknowledging that it probably takes a moment to "control" the ball after the initial touch, that foot would certainly be off the floor by the time he is holding the ball.

The point of control in this video is approximately full step later than the other one....the ultimate pivot foot in the other video was still coming down as he caught the ball. If this one is considered at all close by anyone, the other one must be obvious.

Travel.
I was able to pause the video at 11 seconds with the player fully in possession and the left foot still clearly on the floor.

It's *really close*.

It's so close that the expected call is nothing, though if a call is made, I suppor tit.

A travel call here would be the dictionary definition of "ticky-tack".

I can almost GUARANTEE the opposing coach here wasn't screaming for a travel call. I'm willing to bet it never even crossed his mind.

While I trust Nevada's judgment my guess is if I was on the floor I would've had a no-call. I had a legal play in real time sitting at home. Running down the court it might have fallen into the "I'm not 100% sure" category meaning I'm not putting a whistle on it.

I wouldn't have been thrilled afterwards to discover it was a travel but better to call what I know as opposed to what I think.

See to me, I have the player gathering the ball/possession while in midair...opposite of what Nevada judged. Either way, I wouldn't be putting air in the whistle on this play.

Legal!!

I got nothing on this in live play. In slow motion, he travels. But no way I'm calling this a travel in a game situation, it's one of those plays where i think he traveled but I don't know if he traveled.

So I'm staying away.

Adam Fri Apr 06, 2012 09:18am

I think he travels, but there's no way I'm picking this up in real time; because I "think" he travels.

Most definitely! I looked at this play over & over trying to see what travel supporters see as illegal.

I guess some of us look for a reason to blow our whistles & interrupt games by erasing highlight plays:eek:

Is that sort of disparagement necessary?

Snaqs, you did say you had nothing on this play, didnt ya?
Theres only 1 person that says this is a travel & the intended party knows that shot was for him. And yes, its very necessary return fire when fired upon.

Actually, if I had to guess one way or the other based on the definitions, I'd guess he traveled. I wouldn't call it, though, because it's way to close to know for sure.
