Postseason begins

We had an 8/9 matchup in a 16-team sectional. Boys.

Home team up 44-41. 4 seconds left. Visiting team went the length of the floor and hit a 3 from the corner to send it to OT. I was the trail 2-person and I had to bust hard to get to the division line before the shot was released (in my corner).

We had 2 fouls in OT. I called them both -- an "and-one" on a bump from behind and a no-brainer with a tie game and 2.9 seconds left on the clock. Kid drained both throws and the visiting team couldn't get off a quality shot.

First OT of the season in game 56 or so. I would've been glad to work some more, too.

Congrats on your post-season assignments.

I hope you mean more games in general, not more OTs!

Usually the games that go OT are worth working OT.

Of course I only work HS varsity and up.

I will take a OT game over a blowout any day.

Peace

Same here...well unless it was that Triple OT girl's 7th grade ge I had this year but that's the exception to the rule.

Congrats on a good game Rich!

Cool. You can't ask for much more than that from a first rounder. There weren't too many close ones.

At my age, a blowout is almost as good as a nap.

Our girls first rounder could be a massive blowout -- doubtful the losing team will be in single digits, but it could be close.

I didn't mention the blood on the jersey, kid starts changing on the bench moment, did I?

Let's just say it ended with me sending the kid to the locker room to change jerseys and no free throws other than the 2 for the foul that stopped the play in the first place.

Even though the team took a 60-second timeout while the kid changed (probably in the hallway - that's what I would've done), they subbed for the player and then none of the people in the stands or the head coach could understand why we wouldn't let the player back in after the first free throw. Or the second.
