European ref in LA

Hi,
I'm a 20 year old basketball referee from the Netherlands and new on this forum. From september till january I'll be going to California for my study/internship. During this period I'd like to obtain some more expierence in officiating, visit some camps, work as many games as possible and if possible get some games evaluated. I have a few years of expierence refereeing FIBA basketball and quite some expierence as a player, but I have no idea how this would translate to US basketball.
I'll be staying with family in the Los Angeles (San Fernando) area and will have a car at my disposal. Do you think this would be possible and if so do you know any people that could help me or any camps that would suit my expierence (if there are any during that timeframe?) Any help is much appreciated.
Kind regards, Jeroen

Can You Stick Around For The Final Four ???

Since you'll be in Southern California, you'll be doing NCAA Division I basketball by October.

Jeroen:

Welcome to the Forum. The first place to start is with the California Basketball Officials Association (http://www.cboa.net/); this is the main website for the CBOA.

I was a member of the San Gabriel Valley Unit when I lived in Glendale, California, from Feb. 1982 to Aug. 1984; in my opinion it was the finest Unit in the CBOA back then. The San Gabriel Valley Unit's website is: http://www.cboa.net/sangabrievalley/.

There is also a San Fernando Valley Unit and its website is: http://www.cboa.net/sanfernandovalley/.

There are sections at each website that will give you names of people to contact. If you choose the San Gabriel Valley Unit, please tell them that I recommended them. They were a very helpful group of guys back then.

Thanks for the quick and informative reply mr DeNucci, found some really useful information on those sites.

PS: URL's work better with only lower case characters
