If a player shoots the ball from the baseline and the path of his shot goes over the top of the backboard, but doesn't touch anything, is this a valid basket? Everyone I talk to says that it is. I think that I have seen an NBA commercial with Larry Bird shooting and making a long baseline jumper with a very high arch, and the ref can be seen waving off the bucket.
