Down goes Frazier...

No flag for clipping, either.

Also, look at this. This sure looked like a travel in real-time, but watching it slowed down...

And the first 4-point play I've seen this season:

(I'd have pulled out shorter clips, but not quite sure how to do that, so I bookmarked some times.)

I have been fooled by that "travel" a couple of times recently also. Find the pivot foot, find the pivot foot, find the pivot foot!!

And I had a 4 pt. play last Thursday! Very similar to yours.

Watched it several times; still not sure his right foot wasn't the pivot.

Funny thing, nobody said a word. It's only me watching the entire game did I pick this up.

I need to watch more film.

That works just fine. Thanks for sharing.

(I also think the left was the pivot.)

just out of curiousity; can you give a rundown of the conversation that occurs between yourself and the coach at 31:45? The smack on the *** cracked me up.

Another thing I didn't notice until watching the film, too. I laughed at that.

It was a conversation he started with my partner, I think, about the home team and getting elbows involved. Since I switched after reporting, I kicked my partner out of there, so I asked the coach if there was anything he wanted to tell/ask me. Not something I'd do with great frequency, but I was pretty sure it would be along those lines and not a big deal. The pat on a butt was not noticed -- the pat on the back after I fell was. We were both laughing after he realized I was OK.

watching the feet on the catch is the only way to get better at the travel/non-travel play.....

his left foot was the pivot foot; no travel.

it's GREAT that you're watching film.....it's the ONLY way to get better!!!!!

I found another thing in the video. My counting of the 10-second count speeds up and slows down depending on how fast I'm moving. I was not aware of this and my counting, on average, was actually too fast, which is pretty hard to believe.

Worked a juco men's game tonight (101-94 final, BTW), and I counted "1-thousand-one" etc. as I swung my arm. A huge improvement, at least based on my perspective. When I get more film, I'll know how much better I'm doing.

When you're ripe, you rot, and all that...

I started using the "thousand" count this season to keep my count consistent.

I had the shot clock to help tonight, but I won't in my HS game tomorrow. I should arrange for a DVD tomorrow.

Let me add this: I'm glad I'm not the only one to do this. I thought my count was consistent, but the video proved otherwise. Anything I can do to make my work better, I will.

That's how I've done it since I started.

Me too. I've got video coming soon, though, so I'll have a chance to check.

Timer?

I've used a stopwatch/timer to help with my counts. The good news is that the speed of my count doesn't vary with my foot speed, but I have found that it tends to get faster if more pressure is placed on the ballhandler (either backcourt or closely guarded). Weird.

May need to try the "thousand" trick...

One Magnolia State, Two Magnolia State, Three ...
