Ok.
Here's my embarrasing screw up for the day.
Rec assigner calls me to do some games at a local Greek Orthdox Church... ( yeah I know)
But these guys aren't bad. I've been there several times before and always been treated well.
First game uneventful. One T, (which costs the offender $25 bucks to a Church fund)

Second game... first let me say. (in the words of Bill Walton)
TERRRRRIBBBBLLLLLLE ball!!!!

We're towards the end of the game and black (who is behind)
knocks the ball loose and then wings it towards their basket.
As I'm running now from trail to lead, as black player grabs the ball,
I hit the whistle. "Back court" says my whistle, while my brain is saying, "But wait, this is their basket" .
Player makes the layup, which I have to wave off.
Apologizing profusely, I give the ball back to black.
Here's the kicker however.
Black is behind with the clock running down and hits a three to tie the game.
Sooooo..... If I hadn't had the inadvertent whistle, black would have probably won by two and we would have gone home. As it was, we play overtime and black loses.

Moral.... CONCENTRATION! CONCENTRATION! CONCENTRATION!

AAU & other spring games are a great place to tune up before camps, (and I've sure have had my share of mental vapor lock at these games as well ).

Drake,
You are not alone.
The rules were written because It happens.
You followed the rules.

****The root for the words "been there-done that" are the Greek words beentos-donktos. Which in Greek means, "Haven't we all." So, there you go.

This will only be funny if you've seen that Greek wedding movie. But come to think about it it still may not be funny even if you have.
