advanced mechanic

Watching the end of the Indiana - Michigan State game, during a contested shot underneath, the Lead puts up his hands like a defender maintaining verticality. Seemed odd.

Maybe he was signaling "over the back!" :D

Adam Wed Dec 28, 2011 09:25pm

Nice, now we get the traveling signal for a throw in violation.

Rich Wed Dec 28, 2011 09:25pm

I saw it too. One of the top dogs in the Big 10. Looked like he was calling a 3 pointer.

I see that mechanic used all the time in D-I and NBA games.

I think so. Older white guy. I'm not convinced he actually left the spot.

Love the travel call out of bounds. Rookie mistake, not a D1 official.

Welpe Wed Dec 28, 2011 09:48pm

I'm still trying to figure out why the old lead/new trail points the other way after a made basket.

rafking Wed Dec 28, 2011 09:51pm

I guess the new trail is helping the players know which way to run.

Kitts was in U1 position for tipoff (Barone tossed), yet Kitts put the ball in play to start 2nd half.

bob jenkins Wed Dec 28, 2011 10:46pm

R vs. tosser, perhaps.

knockitoff Wed Dec 28, 2011 10:52pm

Not too often the weak link gets to toss it.

berserkBBK Wed Dec 28, 2011 11:06pm

Saw him make this same signal on a fast break as new lead. It looked like he signaled a made three pointer.
