Another substitution question
It's the period between the third and the fourth quarters. The second horn to signal players back on the floor has sounded.
Just after the horn sounds, Coach A wants to make substitutions. He is informed that he cannot, since the rules state he must have his players in place before the first horn. Can the coach call a timeout to "buy" the substitutions? |
I'll answer by asking these questions:
Is it allowable to call a time-out at that point in the game? If not, why? If so, what are the rules regarding subs and time-outs? |

Am I to assume from the silence that I'm right?

Had a player go down after getting fouled on a fast break. Shooting foul. Coach came out to check on the player. He then got annoyed when I told him I'd either need a sub for the shooter or he could use a timeout to keep her in the game.
Not sure what he wanted me to do -- set aside the rule just for him? |
