Legal or not, I can't see why anyone would want to wear one. As tref said, things happen too fast in basketball. Not like you have time to huddle....

The only reason I could see is as a reminder for inbound plays. That's about the only time one would have time to refer to it.

On some rare occasions teams have used signs to call out plays. I saw this first on the basketball court.
