Naso

Does anyone have a membership to NASO. I was thinking of signing before the season starts as I would like to carry the additional insurance. I was wondering if anyone knows if signing up for a NASO membership includes the insurance and also does it include Referee Magazine?

NASO question

I have been a member, then for a season not been a member, then a member again. During the time I was NOT I had an uneasiness about what freak thing might happen. I call several sports. As a NASO member, I have $3,000,000 of coverage. I will likely never have to use it, but for less than $100 a year its a no-brainer. It covers school sports as well as any rec league sports you may call.

Yes you get Referee magazine with the deal.

While joining NASO does include the insurance, you may or may not need it. If you're a member of the NFHS through your HS association, you probably already have insurance that has similar levels of coverage. And even though it is through NFHS, it covers ALL of your games from youth to adult regardless of who assigns them.

I did wind up purchasing the insurance. As a PIAA certified basketball official I am covered by the insurance to officiate any game high school, camp, or scheduled game (just not a pick up game). However I have been added to a JUCO staff and would not be covered should something occur in any games I do above the high school level. With the NASO membership I am now covered for anything.
