CCA Men's Manual Change?

I just received my mail with the NCAA Rulebook/Casebook and CCA Mechanics today.

I was looking in the back of the Rulebook and Mechanics book and noticed something interesting.

The CCA added three new signals for foul calling.

They added:
Chucking
Pinning a Defender
Dislodging with the Knee

They even added:
No shot/Pass off

Also added/changed:
2 Shot signal

None of these changes are in the current rulebook.

Does anyone know why these changes are not reflected in the rulebook? I am sure there is a basic answer, but I missed a change last year last year. I also wanted to inform those like me that missed a signal change in the past.

Peace

I saw that & it makes sense that they would give us more tools to communicate what actually happened.
Nothing worse than reporting a knee in the post players rear as a push while his hands are completely verticle.

Not sure why the rulebook doesnt reflect the changes, perhaps they got em in late & the rulebook print date was prior to the CCA manuals. I recieved my manual two weeks after the other books in a 2nd shipment.
The question is, when is NFHS gonna get with the program?

Not sure what level you work JRut, but have you heard how levels below DI will adjudicate RA plays without the marking on the floor? Do they continue to use the cylinder or guesstimate where the RA should be?

I don't know if this applies to this specific change, but the rules book is updated well in advance of the mechanics manuals, and requires an entirely different set of approvals.

I do not work D1 so I am sure I will deal with a lot of courts that will not have the marking on the floor. The video said that this marking is not required this year. Unfortunately this will be bad as I feel it will make this call very difficult and hard to be consistent from game to game.

I work mostly JC and NAIA so I am sure this will be a mixed bag if schools do not add the RA.

Peace

Is that video on the Arbiters NCAA-M account?

The toughest part will be the depth of where the circle is, the width is the backboard so that part is easy.
We are going to have to be very strong on those situations, because without the mark its becomes strictly judgement. I can see it now!! Coaches will be trying to put that much more doubt in our minds after calls to get that next call.

Yes, the same video used at the NCAA Clinics in the next few weeks.

They were going to do that anyway even with the marking, but it just will be hard to see on video without an overhead look. Oh well, it was kind of like last year anyway.

Peace

Thanks, I'm going to watch the video now.

And yes, thats part of the fun of it for me anyway! Getting them to buy my act, communications following a call, bringing their emotions back down, etc, etc. The game within the game!
It wouldn't be any fun if we never got pushback.
