I don't know if anyone was watching the GW-Nova (women's) game tonight on the Deuce, but maybe some of you can clarify this.
About 5 seconds to go in the game, GW clearly out of contention. Blue (GW) 21 pushes a white player (clearly an intentional foul) and the official signaled an intentional foul. 'Nova went to the line, but there were GW PLAYERS lined up to REBOUND. Does anyone know if the call was changed, or is the rule different for the women's game?

The rule for intentional is the same for Men and Women. The contact must have been reported as a common foul, I think. mick |

The same type of thing happened in the Big South Tournament. (I am sure you were all watching on the Liberty Channel) A player committed a hard foul to stop the clock and the official ran in with what looked like the intentional foul mechanic. Everyone in the arena, and both coaches were under the impression it was intentional as the players were sorted out. YET when he reported the foul, he called it a "Hit" and shoot the bonus (or super bonus in this case) Not sure why you would run in with a preliminary that looked like "intentional" in this situation, but he was working a D1 tournament game, and I last worked the girls JV Championship game! Maybe one day I will be good enough to make up my own mechanics

Some other rules are different -- they have different rules committees, and, thus, make some different decisions. It's like NFHS < > FIBA < > NBA |
