Unless there is some immediate danger to the participants and the viewers of these games, I would say play. But then again you live in a region that is quite different than ours. You are a bigger target than we are.

My question is, why not play?

Peace

Well considering that 9/11 was almost 2 years ago, we have not been subjected to the amount of bombings that you have. Yes the loss of life was greater in that one setting, but we are not dealing with daily terrorism. We are also not living next door to people that want us dead. Right or wrong, your country is surrounded by haters of your government. To me there is a huge difference.

Peace

In my opinion you have to keep on playing. Allowing the terrorists to change your life is a victory for them.

In the case of Iraq, they may attack Israel in order to broaden the scope of the war. Still, if you can play, I say play. Keep life as normal as possible.

Nice site!

My take on this is keep going as if nothing has changed until it does. Personal note: my aunt is 73 years old and has worked in midtown NYC since the early 60's. Last night I gave her a call, asked her if she thought it might be nice to take a few days off & enjoy the spring weather, just a few days until things settle out a bit. Her response? "I lived through the blitz in London and the Nazis in Italy and I'm not going to let these b@stards keep me out of the city now!"

Hey, here's a joke:

Q: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend France?
A: We don't know, it's never been tried.

I like that one, Dan.

Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysee?

So the Germans could march in the shade.

Hey, can we stick to basketball, and skip the ethnic jokes? This has nothing to do with PC, but rather emotions and convictions of human beings, and besides this is a basketball board. The digressions that don't involve insults and slams are okay with me to a point, but I can't see that this thread is going anywhere healthy. We've answered Romano's questions about play, or not play, and I think that should be the end of it. Please.

At the risk of being considered insensitive I'll just ask you to please calm down. Humor is the glue that binds us together, particularly in times of trouble. Please.

[/B][/QUOTE]Humor,by itself,is innately and inherently insentive IMO.Jokes usually make fun of someone or something.Nothing mean-spirited is meant in 99.99% of the jokes made.

What do you expect from individuals that would bring up a KKK site to prove a point. One of these jokesters did that here. This is why I hate Political Correctness. I like people to show their true colors, not hide them behind just jokes. It was only bound to happen.

Peace

I think, despite the current situation in the world, the sporting world must continue to play on as scheduled. As originally posted earlier, GOD, OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS WITH US, AND NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIS CHILDREN. Sports can be used as a way to get our minds off the dangers, and threats of dangers for a time period that currently distract us. As the sporting world continues to press on forward with its schedules, let us as officials before each assignment, take a moment and stop before going on the floor or going on the field, and offer prayers of thanks and well wishes to GOD, for giving us our freedoms here in the United States and freedoms across the world, but also offer prayers for the soldiers and the soldiers' families as they defend our country, and wait for their loved ones to return home.
MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
