"In Heaven..." (a.k.a. "No Beer")

Enjoy, particularly the third verse...

Must be a really popular athletic program since there's more band members at the game than there are spectators.

I just love working games with pep bands.

+1

Brings an extra element to the game and creates a great atmosphere (most times).

I did a charity game at the end of this past season where two MS Faculties played - and they both brought their bands! Hoorah!

Talking

A few hundred years ago, back when I was in HS, our "pep band" used to lead us in singing cheers, not just with music. One of their favorites during basketball games was, "Our team is red hot. Your team is diddly squat."

Also, during FTs by the other team, they would chant, "See that basket. See that ball. C'mon stupid. Hit the wall."

I miss HS.

I started HS as a freshman when I was 12 years old. I graduated and then went away to college when I was 16. I was the youngest in my entire HS graduating class of 712 students. Not kidding.

Love it! No way in hell most high schools would allow that from its student sections today, though.

I am not so sure about that, at least not when I hear the music that is played over the PA at many schools. I wonder if the adults screen the songs they play in general. And this video without the words at the bottom I would have no clue what they were saying. I bet this is a similar situation here.

Peace

I'll rephrase. No way in hell most high schools in my little corner of the nation would allow that from its student sections today. It's gotten to the point where some student sections feel discouraged from cheering, due to the verbal limitations placed by some schools.

I agree that if most parents, adults and administrators were aware of these kinds of things this would not be allowed. My point is that most "adults" obviously do not pay attention or they would not allow even some music being played uncut at a school or religious school's event. And even if they know or knew what was being displayed, I am convinced that many would not make a big deal out of things. At least that is my experience when I hear the chants alone come out of these kids’ mouths.

Peace
