POP -VS- BEER prefered after game?

Simple Question Simple Answer.

When on top of the game of basketball. When the cameras were turned off and the crowds went home, We as officials trained harder than anyone else in the gym. And just like yourself, we lose vital fluids. You have now left the gym. Which would you reach for given the two options a POP or a BEER.

PS This is a one answer question ONLY !!!!! answer one or the other only.

Ummmm, maybe it's my naivite, but I thought these were the same.

Or is that the point? If so, I'll take a pass on the post-game beverage. Blech.

Neither, I go for a big glass of milk. Really, I do.

Mark Padgett Fri Mar 07, 2003 03:02pm

Diet Snapple - either cran-raz or kiwi strawberry.

mick Fri Mar 07, 2003 03:03pm

Depends on the company.
I do a lot of squirt and a lot less beer.

BlackFox40 Fri Mar 07, 2003 03:09pm

ChuckElias - I've now made the change. I misread your last statement.

Tuesday - Pop
Thursday - Pop
Friday - Beer
Saturday - Pop

Jurassic Referee Fri Mar 07, 2003 04:07pm

When you sweat heavily, the levels of some of the chemicals that your body requires actually decreases with the fluid loss. There are more of these needed chemicals in beer than in pop.Beer is actually better for you after a game-up to a point.

I never pass up an opportunity to have a beer - ask Chuck, we went down the hill to the bar a couple of times last summer. I forget the name of the place now but they actually had Dinkel Aker on tap! Anyway if it ain't Sammy's then I'm gonna go furrin'. Guinness if they got it.

Well, let's see - pop is a name for either a father or what happens to a balloon when you puncture it - I wouldn't want to drink either.

As to the "brownpop" - not 21 yet.

I'll stick with the water (Brita filtered, thank you very much).

Just for the record, the only one of the above of which I partake is Salmon....when prepared nicely. Not sure if I've even tried a Snapple but the other two, to me, simply taste and smell, horrible. :(

My aftergame beverage is either water or a gatorade-like drink (no carbonation) or both....and lots of it. I probably drink 20-40+ ounces of water in the 2-3 hours after a game.

Neither pop or beer is good for rehydrading your body, they're both a net loss in hydration. Without additional water to compensate, you'd be better off with nothing.

Sometimes, after filling up with water, I'll add a pop.

You havent't lived until you stop at the Jersey Lilly in Ingomar, MT (population -3) for the homemade bean soup washed down with a budlight. A close second is Mel's Place in Melstone, MT for the homemade pizza and the complementary dance with the best-looking ewe in the flock. (We get a little lonely out here on the flats, ya know)

Before I started reffing, I drank about one beer and about two glasses of wine per year. Now I'm up to about three beers and one glass of wine per year. the "extra" beer is during the season, or at bball camp. My teetotalling grandmother would be horrified at the indulgence, but my doctor says a certain avount of alcohol is good for the heart. When I'm not drinking beer, it's diet pop after a game. And I'm always the designated driver.

OK shortbaldref, your schedule just increased by one. You get to go to the first Melstone game with me. I can't get anyone to stop at the good ole' Jersey Lilly anymore.

Anyone just tuning in, that's not a vote for the ewe, it's a vote for the Bud Light and Old Bill's Bean Soup! (My wife loves me for days after that stop!!)

Well, I'm not one to tell tales but let's just say the bar ran out of Coke by the end of camp...and I think I might have seen Chuck dip a carrot stick into some blue-cheese dressing...once...he thought it was yogurt. We all had fun though, 'cause anyone sitting within 50 feet of a certain referee who'll remain nameless got drunk just on the fumes! Take-a-my-heart! Take-a-my-heart!

Of all the movies I have seen Jackass is certainly one of them. And that's a fact, Jack!

But the last Austin Powers film (Goldmember?) is very funny. I think the last time I laughed as hard in a movie theater was the first time I saw Blazing Saddles.

The last time I really laughed hard in a movie theater was when I saw Bambi. I especially liked the part where Bambi's mother got killed. That was really funny.

Every time I hear bean soup I remember that it was what they fed Matt Dillon for his first meal one of the many times he was unjustly imprisoned, working in Judge Brooker's mine. Just didn't look too appetizing there.

My brother official, may we invite you to great nothingness of southeastern Montana. Check Blackhawk 357's hunting website, signup, and come yonder. Matt Dillon would have committed crimes to get into Judge Brooker's mine if Old Bill Seward (may he rest in peace) had been building the bean soup with his home-grown lentls. And let's not forget the sheepdip hors d'oeuvres all in a a one-restaurant ghosttown once proclaimed as "The wool capital of the world". Need to take a dump? the excitement is just beginning as you trek to the outdoor biffies referred to affectionately as the bull and heffer pens. Snakes are optional, good times are mandatory.
