ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Had a game Sat. night - #2 playing at #3. About 3 minutes into the game, the Vcoach jumps out of his chair and SCREAMS at my partner about a no-call on a rebound (his team got ball oob, but he wanted a foul)... my exact words to him were "Coach, I strongly suggest that you find a different way to communicate with us tonight." He didn't say another word to me the rest of the game...10 min. ago, my supervisor calls me at work to discuss the fact that this coach called her this morning to complain that I was "unapproachable"... ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Smart-aleck! I would have told you, but since you were so mean to me...

Seriuosly, I was at West. baptist when they upset OIT... I was supposed to have OIT's first-round playoff game also, but was switched to SOU since I am so "unapproachable"...sigh...oh well - I will keep working on it...

Your website posting is funny, but sometimes my sons read these posts with me and it is not something I would want them to see. You should have posted an adult only warning for it.

If your Supervisor is good, He/she will see through all this if in fact you handled it in the way you described. It all depends in how you communicated with the coach. If you listened and spoke in a pleasant manner ,your body language goodetc then you were probably correct. Don't be too abrupt or arrogant in the way you communicate and you will generally make your point and avoid this type of feed-back. Unless there were lots of witnesses then it's only you that knows whether you handled it right. Think it over again; how did you actually handle that communication??
Always remember the 3 "F"'s of officiating ie BE:
FIRM
FRIENDLY; and
FAIR in everything you do.

use your state proceedures and write the incident up.

It balances out their complaint. Don't let the event go un-opposed. Have your voice heard.
