Here is a fun situation. How would you rule? It'll make you think.
Teams are White and Blue Held ball. Arrow points to White's Basket. Possession award to White on the Alternating Possession procedure. On the throw-in, the thrower tries an alley-oop type pass but has the ball lodge inbetween the rim and the backboard. The ball was last touched by the thrower. You blow your whistle and rule: Who gets the ball? Where do they get the ball? What happens to the possession arrow? -Scott The best way to "make-up" for a bad call, is to get the next one right. |

Cute one!
A violated on the throwin so B gets the ball & the arrow. Since B's throw-in is not an AP sitch B keeps the arrow.

agreed
Rule 9 Violations and Penalties
SECTION 2 THROW-IN PROVISIONS A player shall not violate the following provisions governing the throw-in. The thrower shall not: ART. 8 . . . Throw the ball so it lodges between the backboard and ring or comes to rest on the flange before it touches or is touched by another player. Clear violation on inbounding team. Violation on A ends the AP throw-in, causing arrow to switch to B. Because this lodging of the ball is a violation not an AP situation (as it normally is), B keeps arrow and gets ball OOB for throw-in. |
