Correction IRL DOES NOT race in the rain.

Cart will race rain at all courses EXCEPT oval tracks or tracks deemed unsafe to run with the rain tires.

F1 races until the rain is hard enough to signifigantly reduce visibility.

Thank you John,

It is difficult to cover ALL choices in a post . . .

What I meant was:

Like NASCAR all car races sometimes have rain.

When it rains some circuits have a lower tolerance for that rain. Nascar and IRL (and CART when racing on ovals) are the first to suspend races.

F1 races go much farther into rain situations (in fact they change to "rain" tires).

However, ALL car racing circuits have a ruling that if a race passes the 50% mark of the advertised distance the and the race cannot be completed for WHATEVER reason the race will be deemed complete.

DAYTONA and NASCAR was no different then ANY of the racing groups as to ending the race.

Thanks to all who tried to give Chuck the correct rulings based on all types of auto races.

Now Chuck, there is a difference between the SuperBowl/World Series analogy and Daytona.

1) 43 race teams must move their cars (over ground) to the next weeks race. Haulers carry two cars and take time to travel.

2) 250,000 fans have to be told to come back on Monday (a work day for most, no matter how many teeth they have) to see the end of a race. Shoot Chuck, the USGA gets HUGE backlash when the U S Open Golf Tourney is tied and goes to an 18 hole playoff the NEXT DAY. That is only 30,000 on course fans and TV.

3) Finally, cars change when they sit (see Dale Jr.) and race would not be the same race the "next racing day."

Hey I was a dissapointed as all others but I understand it is the system.

End of NASCAR issues, honest.

Tee
