Guys,
I recently bought a pair of patent leather appearing run and refs, and although they do look nice, they scuff rather easily.
A few years back, I purchased a lamb skinned lined "deluxe" shoe bag from the National Federation. I got it stolen last summer at an AAU tournament, and haven't found anything like it since. Has anyone seen a product similar to what I have described? All the referee product sites all have those cheapo bags on there. Any help?

Jeremy,

I purchased a shoe bag last year at Galyan's. It is found in the golfing department. It's lined with some kind of fur or fur-like substance. I found that my shoes got really smelly from being in the bag all the time and not being able to breathe. I've been meaning to buy those little shoe air fresheners that you can get to drop in each shoe.

Do you have a website or link? I haven't heard of that store before. Thanks for the reply.

There's a few brands of shoe spray out there specifically designed for athletic shoes. They neutralize the odor-causing bacteria (wow that sounds like commercial-talk), a couple spritzes after the game in each shoe usually does the trick. But at some point, they should be left out in the open to breathe.

Thumbs up I made my own

Do you have any old shirts, possibly with the Byron collar that you don't use any more? I cut out the bottom of the shirt, just below the arm pits. I cut the piece in half, then sewed a bottom and a side in each piece, making the bag. I took a football lanyard, which has a bead that slides, cut the lanyard, ran it through the bottom seam of each bag, and re-sewed the lanyard to the bag and back together. Instant shoe bag!

Okay, it's not fur-lined but it does the trick!

BBR: My wife did the same thing with a couple of my collared shirts. Several fellow officials have seen them and liked the idea. I guess I have seen about 10 officials with them now. BTW, I simply luv your paint.
