Three thoughts.

1) I'm glad they didn't run a picture of the official standing with James. He's not a professional, and deserves some privacy I think, even in the middle of doing something fairly dumb.

2) Why is the story running on the NBA page of ESPN? James is a HS player and the official is not an NBA ref. What qualifies this as an NBA story?

3) The answers to the poll question are pretty darn funny.

Question: What do you think LeBron was thinking with that 'slight grin' on his face?

Possible answers:
a) 'For once, someone else is going to take the heat'

b) 'Man, I hope this guy makes it to the NBA someday'

c) 'Maybe this guy can hook me up with a referee jersey'

Chuck

Well, seeing most big media outlets don't cover high school basketball, LeBron news has to go somewhere. NCAA doesn't seem right - seeing that he's ineligible to play college ball (unless some freakin' overzealous judge "reinstates" him.)

CNN.com did the same thing.
