Wanted to double-check a ruling I made this weekend.
8th grade boys, NFHS rules. White has throw-in from backcourt endline, Red in tight full-court press. I am trail, so I have the 10-second count. At count 5, White makes an errant pass that is deflected by Red between the circles, still in White's backcourt. Scramble for ball ensues, Red never gains possession. White regains possession near endline, still in backcourt, at count 8. Red continues press. At count 10, white has ball near 28-ft mark in backcourt. Since red never gained possession, my ruling was that White was in continuous team control in the backcourt for 10-seconds, so Tweet! Red Ball. This was an unpopular choice with the howler White Coach. Thoughts? |
