Did anyone see that game last night? I have a couple of NBA rules questions:
When does a player have to sit on the bench? Two Techs plus a flagrant and he is still playing. Does anyone know the rule? On a side note, good job of the officials for keeping this tough game under control. Quote:

Just read the box score. Artest did NOT have two technical fouls.
But just for info. Two unsportsmanlike technical fouls and a player is ejected. Two flagrant fouls, (penalty 1) and a player is ejected. One flagrant foul, (penalty 2) and a player is ejected. One unsportsmanlike T, and one flagrant foul (penalty 1) is not cause for ejection. Flagrant foul (penalty 1) is not considered unsportsmanlike. Flagrant foul (penalty 2) is. Hope this helps. p.s. And if a player gets two T's, he doesn't go to the bench, he leaves the building. |

Great summary, Drake. But how could Artest give both fingers to the crowd and not get his second technical? I didn't see it, but I'd have to think that the NBA brass would want that called, wouldn't you?

Usually players actions towards the fans don't get penalized by the officials unless they go into the stands.
(which by the way is an ejection WITHOUT a T being assesed.) So not really surprising. You can bet that it was included in the game report however. As to the early hour, you work when you can get it! |
