A First for Me

Did Frosh girls, then JV girls. After JV girls, waiting around to be sure two Var officials show. Had seen one, but not the other. I was trying to be unobtrusive, but one of the assistant coaches from the JV game came over and asked a question about the game. It was a reasonable question, so I answered it, and there ensued a reasonable discussion, which led into a little bit of personal opinion from the asst coach about something -- all totally appropriate. But the end of the conversation was, Asst Coach: So are you doing something after the Varsity Game? I gotta admit I was surprised. I mean this guy is probably young enough to be my son, and the relationship during the game hadn't been what you'd call cordial. If he'd said it before the game, I'd have run him, but at that point, well, what's a girl to do? I laughed and said, "I'll try to forget you said that before I do another one of your games." And walked away. Sheez!!
