You are not typically going to be hired if you do not attend someone's college camp that is used for hiring. That is basically all that is required in most parts of the country. But if you have no or little experience working varsity games it might be difficult to have the ability to work those games or stand out. Then again that is based on the area you live and the structure of the high school game assignments. Just understand that college games are usually more experienced teams and players and a faster game so you really have to know the rules as there is much more scrutiny.
Peace

But, honestly, you're asking the wrong people. Find a men's official and a women's official from the conferences you want to work who you respect, and ask them. They will know the assignors in your area and what you will have to do to make those staffs. We can give you general pointers, but they will be able to tell you where to be, what forms to fill out, and when. (And perhaps most importantly, who to send the check to ![]() |
