This was posted once before but I can't find it now.

What is the rule on the "self pass", where a shooter takes a legitamite shot and catches his air-ball. For which levels of play (High School, college, NBA) are they legal/illegal?

Thanks

Legal in Fed and NCAA (assuming the official judges it a try).

Illegal, I believe, in the NBA.

Steve -

While you are right that a large percentage of coaches and even a larger amount of fans don't know this....(1) BE CAREFUL quoting stats and (2) it is probably more important that caoches know this rule and who CARES what the fans think!!!

I know Mark Padgett and I could care less about the fans. *grin*

Jack, great insight! When it comes to what fans think, I fall back on my motto: "Quare Si Mihi Cura Est." For those of you who don't speak Latin, loosely translated it means "Ask Me If I Care."

Good news - I started summer league on Wed nite - high school JV and varsity girls and I must admit, the fans were great. No complaints about the officiating - just encouragement for the players on both sides. Why can't it always be like this? I mean, after all, isn't that how it's SUPPOSED to be?

OH I don"t give a flyin $#%&*>{*$@# about the fans either, but it sure helps if they have some sort of clue. or maybe half a clue ,is that to much to ask for?
AH summer ball starts here next week varsity and jv boys every nite for the next month. just as busy now as if it were the middle of january.I enjoy summer ball, it seems some of the kids play harder to make that spot on the team and impress the coach. Rather than just winning the game only.
