A1 is in the front court. A1 passes the ball to A2 but while the ball is in the air it is tipped by B1. The tip does not change the direction of the ball and A2 catches the ball in back court. Over-and-Back?

Anyway, no in both cases since a member of A was not the last to touch before the ball went into the backcourt.

How about a twist...A2 jumps from the front court and passes the ball back to A1. Except...the pass is a bounce pass that bounces in the back court.

Rules for backcourt violation (hopefully I'll get this right). Team A has control in the front court, Team A last to touch the ball in the front court and Team A first to touch the ball after it enters the back court.

I both cases, Team B gets in the way (depending on where B1 was when he/she tipped the ball). If B1 was in the front court, then Team A was not the last to touch the ball in the front court. If B1 was in the back court, then Team A was not the first to touch the ball after it entered the back court.

Therefore, no violation in either scenario.

Dan, in your twist wouldn't it be a violation? Team A had control, was the last to touch it in the front court and the first to touch it after the ball entered the backcourt.

In my opinion it doesn't matter whether the ball changes direction. It is not over-and-back. First to touch, last to touch applies.
