situation in a GV game yesterday afternoon...
Three officials scheduled to work the game, but one of our partners didn't show. Despite that, the game was sailing along smoothly in the first half (no complaints from either coach, except the ocassional "3-seconds"). With 0.92 seconds IN THE FIRST HALF, I called an illegal screen against B15, putting A4 on the line for 1-and-1. After the shooter receives the ball on the FT line, team A coach stands up and yells, "Hey, if you guys need a break in order to start calling fouls, just let me know. We can take as much time off as you need to catch your breath." A4 misses the first FT, I blow my whistle and give the coach a T, too which he says, "Good, thank you." After getting the shooter from the B coach and reporting the foul, the A coach calmly asks me for a time out. I'm very unemotional about the situation (The T was easy, no one was upset about it) and the coach is being calm, so I didn't see any reason to retreat, i.e., go tell my partner about the time out. I ask the coach, "Would you like a full or a 30?" He responds, "I don't know, however long you guys need." Well...my question to the board is as follows: What would you have done in that situation?
