Question

Hi all, I am interested in becoming an official for Basketball. I have done some research on how to get registered etc. Does anyone have any tips for books I should read, helpful hints, URL's to visit etc. When I get to the "official" officiating, I don't want to look like a dummy on the court. I would rather research, study, and practice prior to actually officiating a game. I would rather be a late starter than to jump into this looking like I just fell off the turnip truck.

All help/info will be greatly appreciated.

There will be plenty of advice forthcoming. What area of the country are you in? There may be someone from your state who can be a little more specific with some advice.

Excellent place to start

I also highly recommend that you find a "mentor". The state association can direct you to a helpful person, if you do not already have someone.

Best wishes in this endevour!

Jamestown to be exact. I am lucky, there are several local officials whom I know and if I asked, I'm sure they would help me. Thanks for the info so far!!
