I don't have my rule book with me, but I need to know where the reference for "hard" fouls is found.
Thanks. |

That rule changed a few years ago. You could call a hard foul and there was a mechanic for it. It is no longer called a hard foul, but rather an intentional foul.

I appreciate the feedback, MTD, Sr., but I went to the NCAA website and can find no mention of the hard fould as part of the intentional. I looked at rule 4-26 art 6. If anyone else knows somewhere else or something I'm missing, I would appreciate it.

Yes...the "excessive contact" ruling was added several years ago and the mechanic is the intentional foul signal and then bring the crossed arms down to waist level...I don't know of any "hard foul" terminology anywhere in the NCAA book... [/QUOTE] That mechanic, IIRC, is the one for the "hard foul" which no longer exists. That mechanic is no longer found in the rule book. |
As I said in my original posting, I did not have my rules books in front of me. At the correct term is "excessive contact" as opposed to "a hard foul." And the "excessive contact" is part of the intentional foul definition.

Thanks to all, I got the info I needed.
