In case you haven't heard, ESPN2 is showing a regular season high school basketball game tonight. It's being billed as the national "coming out party" for LeBron James. He's the most highly balley-hooed high schooler since Kobe.

Whether you're planning to watch or not, here's an interesting preview of what you can expect to see

I think every official here in the greater Cleveland area will be watching this one. It'll be interesting to see how he brightly he shines in the national spotlight.

Remember Dave & Dan, part of a Nike (I think) marketing campaign centered on the Atlanta summer olympics (I think)all those years ago?

Remember Brian Bosworth?

Plenty more to add I guess, but here's a good article:

http://www.sportingnews.com/voices/m.../20020719.html

It was the first thing listed when I googled "overhyped athletes"

BTW, I might try & catch the game mself.

Yeah, I think I'll check it out. Just out of curiousity, are there more D-1 prospects in that high school game than just LeBron? Seems like Oak Hill always has 2 or 3 at least. Most people will expect him to dominate tonight...but if Oak Hill double teams him with some D-1 ability athletes, it might be frustrating for him don't you think?

Hmmmm...

With all the hype this kid has received, he can't possibly live up to that standard.

However, the last person that I thought that about was Tiger Woods........

LeBron James is not a D1 prospect. I would venture to guess that there's not a single college recruiting him.

I watched it as long as I could.

Vitale and Walton together.

Heaven helps us.

How about a dream team of Walton, Vitale, and Billy Packer....then a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. I can't stand to listen to a game called by Bill Walton. All he talks about is "how terrible" all the NBA players are, and hell he must have forgot how bad he sucked during the Celtic years....
