I'm not a basketball ref (actually I'm a baseball umpire) so this is probably a simple question. There is a young man in my area who, due to religion, wears his warm-up pants instead of shorts during a basketball game. Is this excusable because of its religous circumstances? What are uniform requirements in basketball?

Buckeye: He can even wear a skirt now, or religious headwear, or have a religious metal taped to his body inside his shirt. I encourage you to take the basketball clinic and become a referee. I decided to six years ago so I could stay in shape all winter. I wanted to be in good physical condition when I started umpiring baseball in the spring. Well, son-of-a-gun, I really liked it! And each year, I like it even more. I have this great passion, until spring, when I get my greater baseball passion.
(I think officiating basketball is harder)
