Eat/drink for five games
I have five youth games this weekend (middle-school level, boys). Usually, I just consume mass quantities of water and/or G2 to keep me going, but I'm wondering what others may take in to keep pace for five consecutive games.
(Aside from the obvious Advil at day's end.) |
Maybe an energy bar or some fruit & definitely some Earplugs!
Saturday is my last sanctioned game of the year, then its back to the circuit for me too. Where the he11 did the season go  |

Appreciate it sir!

Something easy, banana, apple, granola bar, handful of almonds.

Ditto the granola bars. They work great and also help me balance my blood sugar levels during a run of games. Plus, try some little packs of cracker "sandwiches" with cheese inside.
Oh yeah, BillyMac was wrong. It's not your bank account number and PIN, it's your debit card number and PIN. There's a difference. ;) BTW - this is the last weekend of rec games for me this season and it's a fairly easy one. Just a single BV game on Friday night and a B7 and a B6 game on Saturday. I'll probably sleep through these. Then we have our annual ref pizza party on Saturday after games. Won't sleep through that, however. |

BTW, what are your opinions on those five/six hour energy drinks? I've tried them, but I have to wonder if they're basically effective via placebo. |

also have multiple bananas on game days. |
Tastes Great, Less Filling ...
For all you guys who are watching your weight, and yet, still want to drink one of those sports drinks to replenish electrolytes, I recently discovered Powerade Zero. It has no calories and has Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Calcium.

Same here, bananas and 5-hour-power. Lots of water, I drink less gatorade products and more water, all the "sports drinks" seem to be sugar and food coloring. I also carry "cliff-bars" (granola bars), and beef jerky.
Oh, and after doing 5 or 6 games in a day, the more "Boooos!" you hear during the games, the more "Booze" you deserve after. Pendleton Canadian Whiskey, or Glen Livet Single Malt Scotch, nothing erases a fanboy faster. :D |

After 5 games I wouldn't rule out taking some. Advil is a staple in my referee bag that goes to every game. |

good taste in liquor though. ;) Good suggestions here for things to keep you going. Granola bars, energy bars, dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts all good sources of energy to keep you going. Have a little bit between games as needed. I like the 5 hour energies as well but don't use them often, only when I really feel I need them. Water and Gatorade G2 also very important to keep hydrated. |

I typically don't take any pain reliever medication with me, but I occassionally do when I get home. (Billy, I like Powerade Zero, too. I'll have to find out who has the best deal on them here. Probably not Circle K.) |
